THIS IS ME

My name is Ms. Gramuglia and welcome to my page! Feel free to browse the different tabs. If you have any questions or like to know more, just visit my contact page and send me an email.

Just a little about myself. I'm born and raised a New Jersey girl. I also have a younger sister and younger brother. I went to Quinnipiac University and received a B.S. in Athletic Training. I also graduated from Springfield College with a M.Ed. in Physical Education in May 2013. Some of my hobbies include cooking, listening to music, traveling, singing in the car, and anything that keeps me active!

GO FALCONS!!

MY PHILOSOPY

It turns out that children do need physical education, and here are a few reasons why:

-Obesity is an epidemic that is slowly on the rise, becoming more prevalent in younger and younger individuals. Regular physical activity is part of the puzzle to relieve the world of this disease and improve the quality of life of our children. (NASPE standard 4, MA CF 2.6)

-Physical activity also allows children to learn to take responsibility for themselves, as well as instructional tools used in class, such as pedometers and other technology, and any other equipment used in specific units. (NASPE standard 5, MA CF 2.7)

-P.E. is a melting pot for the introduction of various classroom topics. Subjects such as math and geography can be incorporated into lessons to enhance student learning even when they aren’t behind a desk. Physical activity also relieves stress, which leads to better attention in the classroom. P.E. is therefore a great place to continue preparation for tests and quizzes. (NASPE standard 3)

This is just a small sample of all the benefits that children can reap from physical education.

My ultimate goal is to hone in on the abilities of my students to drive instruction and guide them down the right path. I hope to give them those essential tools to be able to reach their individualized goals; in turn I hope to meet the needs of every student to help each become as successful as possible. It’s the student’s voice that will help him or her get to where they want to go, but it’s my job to listen and get them to the finish line.

The present pressing issues we face in society and education today truly affect the way the classroom (or gymnasium) is run. The students are citizens of society and I believe it is important to teach them the essentials in order for them to function as members in this ever-changing environment. It’s important that we continue to listen to these issues while keeping physical education a part of the equation to assist in the development of our community, nation, and children.
